But new solar installed capacity will remain high.    According to reports, China's record new installed capacity last year was higher than the total installation of solar panels in the United States. The growth in solar capacity and record additions to wind power put China on track to meet a global goal of tripling renewable energy by 2030, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

  • Tongwei's first large-scale ground photovoltaic project in Africa is launched

       On June 6, Tongwei officially announced that it had reached a cooperation agreement with AMEA Power, a renewable energy developer in the Middle East and Africa. AMEA Power will invest, develop, build and operate a 140MW large-scale ground photovoltaic project in South Africa, and will use high-efficiency N-type photovoltaic modules exclusively supplied by Tongwei. This project is Tongwei's first large-scale ground photovoltaic project in Africa. AMEA Power Chief Investment Officer Aqueel Bohra and Tongwei Co., Ltd. Photovoltaic Business Department Module Marketing Deputy General Manager Li Yan witnessed the signing, and AMEA Power EPC & Supply Chain Senior Director Zhu Yinteng and Tongwei Co., Ltd. Photovoltaic Business Department Module Marketing Asia Pacific and Middle East and Africa Regional Director Chen Fangzhou signed the contract as representatives.    Since its establishment in 2016, AMEA Power has established a good reputation worldwide with its rapid development speed and deep involvement in renewable energy projects. Its business covers the Middle East, Central Asia, Africa and other emerging markets. It has successfully invested in more than 1.6GW of renewable energy projects and has more than 6GW of project reserves worldwide.      The Doornhoek photovoltaic project signed this time is located in Klerksdorp, North West Province, South Africa. The project is part of the South African government's sixth round of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program (REIPPPP) of the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy. The total capacity of the project is 140MW and is expected to be connected to the grid for power generation in 2025. It is estimated that after the project is connected to the grid, it can generate more than 325GW·h of clean energy per year, which can meet the electricity needs of about 25,000 households in South Africa.      South Africa has unique solar energy resources. At the same time, since experiencing a serious power shortage crisis in 2023, the South African government has continuously increased its attention to renewable energy and has become one of the hot spots for solar energy development in the Middle East and Africa. According to a report released by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), South Africa is expected to become one of the top ten photovoltaic markets in the world in 2024, and the status of photovoltaic power generation in the country will continue to grow. In addition, the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA) pointed out that since the beginning of 2023, the total number of photovoltaic projects registered with the South African National Energy Regulatory Agency has reached 4.3GW. It is expected that by 2030, South Africa's cumulative installed capacity will reach about 36GW.     Li Yan, deputy general manager of module marketing of Tongwei Solar Business Department, said: "We are very honored to work with such an excellent partner as AMEA Power to jointly promote the development of renewable energy in the Middle East and Africa. This cooperation not only demonstrates Tongwei's competitiveness in the global photovoltaic market, but also reflects our commitment and responsibility to environmental protection."      AMEA Power Chief Investment Officer Aqueel Bohra also said: "The cooperation with Tongwei is an important step for us in the field of global renewable energy. Tongwei's high-efficiency N-type module technology will provide a strong guarantee for the successful implementation of the Doornhoek photovoltaic project. We look forward to contributing to the sustainable development of South Africa and the entire Middle East and Africa through this project."      This signing is Tongwei's first large-scale ground photovoltaic project in Africa. It is an important milestone for both parties to deepen cooperation in the field of renewable energy and jointly explore the market. In the future, Tongwei and AMEA Power will continue to work together to explore more cooperation opportunities and contribute more to the global green energy industry.
